Fees & Payment

Psychotherapy typically involves regular 45 to 55-minute sessions. These sessions are generally once-a-week, although duration and frequency vary depending on the nature of our work together and your individual needs. The current fee structure is:

  • Initial Assessment (55 minutes): $175.00
  • Individual Therapy Session (50-55 minutes)*: $160.00
  • Individual Therapy Session (45 minutes)*: $140.00
  • Couple/Family Therapy Session (45-50 minutes): $175.00 [Not accepting new couples]
  • Writing Reports / Letters: $140.00/hr (minimum of 1/2 hr)

*Session length may be dictated by your insurance company reimbursement rates.

All payments are due at the time of service via credit card, cash, Venmo, or check made payable to Newton Psychotherapy. You will be asked to provide a current credit or debit card for me to keep on file, information which is kept securely in my encrypted practice management system. This card can be used for session fees and will be charged for late cancellations, missed appointments, and/or unpaid balances.

Using Insurance
I am an in-network provider for Carolina Behavioral Health Alliance, the mental health insurance organization for both Wake Forest Baptist Health and Wake Forest University faculty and staff.

I am an out-of-network provider with all other insurance companies. Most insurance plans provide some level of out-of-network benefits, which are sometimes equal to or better than in-network benefits. I’ll be happy to electronically file out-of-network claims to your company on your behalf. You will be responsible for the full fee at the time of service and will be reimbursed directly by your insurance company according to your specific plan.

Please check with your insurance carrier prior to our first meeting to determine your coverage for “mental health office visits,” including any deductible you need to meet and/or visit limitations. Please note that some plans require pre-authorization for services to be covered. If so, simply let me know your authorization number to add to your claims.

Sliding Scale
I do have a limited number of reduced-fee openings available in my schedule. If my regular fee isn’t possible for you, please be in touch, and we can discuss the possibility of meeting for a lower fee.
